Max Freedman

Max Freedman is a recognized industry leader focused on the Restaurant/C-Store real estate, heads the Austin office and the SIG Restaurant Group.  Max is a founding partner and opened the first SIG office in Santa Monica, CA in 2009, with Chris Sands. He has excelled in building the company’s team culture and strategies you see today.  Max has a strong team mentality and has had an integral part in recruiting several agents to Sands Investment Group. SIG’s restaurant group consists of nine agents geared solely towards fast food and sit-down restaurants and are strategically located within each of the offices across the country.  Max’s primary goal in the business is to create win/win situations.  His resume includes working with national branded franchise operators and build-to-suit developers, creating calculated expansion plans. To date, Max has closed over 220 transactions while utilizing his sphere of influence, which includes: REITs, private real estate investment firms, and private equity firms focused in the restaurant space.  Max’s experience in structuring sale leaseback transactions has developed him into becoming an industry expert on creating exit and growth strategies for his operator clients.  Using his national connections and expertise, Max ensures a successful and seamless real estate transaction for all his clients.  Max graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Business Administration – specializing in entrepreneurial studies.

Elan Sieder

Daniel Hoogesteger

Daniel S. Hoogesteger is the Managing Director of SIG’s West Coast headquarters in Santa Monica, CA.  Prior to being a founding member of SIG, Daniel began his career in 2002 at Faris Lee Investments and has a tenured resume at firms including Marcus & Millichap & CB Richard Ellis.  His resume includes representing many of the largest institutional, private capital & development companies in the acquisition & disposition of commercial real estate assets.  Daniel leads SIG’s big box team and has been directly involved in over $1.5 billion worth of commercial real estate transactions.  Prior to his career in brokerage, Daniel worked at an Investment Bank headquartered in Los Angeles and held a directing role at a global non-profit working to fight against poverty in developing third-world countries. Daniel graduated cum laude from University of St Thomas in St Paul, Minnesota with a double major in Finance & Entrepreneurship.

Andrew Ackerman

Andrew is a seasoned CRE professional with over 10 years experience and has closed over $500M in transaction volume over the course of his career. Andrew has a proven track record in brokerage as well team management which he’s done in several capacities since first joining Marcus & Millichap in 2005. Before joining SIG, Andrew was a top producing agent at Stan Johnson Company’s Atlanta office, he brokered the closing of a 16-store sale leaseback for $26M while receiving the company’s Mentor Award. He also co-founded Smith Attaway Company, a commercial real estate service company focused on brokerage and development, where he was president.

Adam Scherr

Adam Scherr is an accomplished investment advisor at Sands Investment Group (SIG), a commercial real estate investment brokerage company based in Santa Monica, California. With offices nationwide, SIG specializes in investment sales of single tenant net leased retail properties. Adam represents clients ranging from private capital to institutional investors, with a focus on investment sales of net lease investments on a national basis. His specialties include retail investment properties consisting of single tenant net leased investments (STNL), 1031 exchange transactions, NNN investments, underwriting, corporate leases, real estate acquisition, real estate disposition, and sale leasebacks. Adam has completed transactions worth over $400,000,000 and manages a team of junior brokers. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont and is actively engaged in philanthropic work, such as Jewish Federation. His interests include traveling and outdoor activities, especially ocean sports like free diving, scuba diving, spearfishing, and sailing. He loves being in and around the ocean, and it’s where he finds his peace and balance.

Liz Sands

Having held prior positions at Yahoo!, Napster and Murad, Liz brings a level of corporate experience that has enabled SIG to scale up their operations nationwide. Her primary responsibilities include strategic planning and implementation, systems and processes development, and oversight of the firm’s Marketing and HR departments.

Liz graduated from UCLA where she was a member of the Diving team. Drawing on her experience there, she now applies her competitive spirit to helping make SIG a world-class leader in real estate investments.

Chris Sands

In 2010 Chris set out to form Sands Investment Group, a firm that would focus on buying and selling net lease properties. His vision was to lead a highly specialized and knowledgeable company able to provide clients with a level of service unprecedented in the industry.  A few short years later, the result is one of the fastest growing and most successful net lease companies in the country, with advisors that are among the most distinguished and sought after in the industry. Born and raised in Los Gatos, CA, Chris began his career in real estate in 2004 at Marcus & Millichap where he was named Rookie of the Year.  During his tenure at the company, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Investments before leaving in 2009. Since forming SIG, Chris has participated in the disposal of over 1,400 properties with a value in excess of $4 billion. As a graduate of UCLA and former professional tennis player, Chris applies the same drive and determination that enabled him to compete at the highest levels of his sport, to building his business and leading a world-class real estate investment company.
